This stunning architectural example is the only pedestrian bridge in the United States to link two states (Council Bluffs, Iowa, is on the other side). The Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge (705 Riverfront Dr., 402/444-5900, www.ci.omaha.ne.us/parks [1]) is a 3,000-foot cable-stayed bridge that connects to 150 miles of hiking and biking trails on either side.
Although the bridge is magnificent at any time of day, it’s an especially breathtaking adventure at night, when you’ll be afforded a glittering view of Omaha [2]’s skyline, as well as of the lighted bridge itself, suspended 60 feet above the river.
