It’s an ingenious idea—enterprising minds thought to put giant blue push pins at important sights throughout the city, and if you pick up a corresponding map at the Omaha Visitors Center (1001 Farnam St., 866/937-6624, www.visitomaha.com [1]) or any Omaha hotel [2], you can spend several hours on a self-guided tour through some of the city’s premier attractions.
To get you started, I’ll give you a hint—there’s a push pin in the Old Market [3]. If you don’t immediately see it, you can’t miss the crowds of people standing around to have their picture taken in front of what is both a brilliant marketing campaign and an unusual public art installation.
You can download the push-pin map before you go at www.visitomaha.com/includes/media/docs/GO-ElectronicMap2.pdf [4].
