Point Bridget is a delightful park along the edge of Lynn Canal, 38 miles north of Juneau [1] and near Echo Cove. It’s a great place to hike if you have the wheels to get there.
Several paths lace this 2,850-acre park, including the Point Bridget Trail (7 miles round-trip) that takes hikers out to a fine vantage point across Lynn Canal to the Chilkat Mountains. Sea lions, harbor seals, and humpback whales are often seen from here.
Before heading out, pick up a park map from the Department of Natural Resources (400 Willoughby Ave., 907/465-4563, www.alaskastateparks.org [2]). Three cozy public-use cabins ($35) each sleep eight.
