Packs can generally be left here while you walk around town. Stop in for a listing of local charter fishing boats if you want to catch salmon or halibut.

Alaska Nature Tours (210 Main St., 907/766-2876, www.alaskanaturetours.net [2]) leads educational three-hour bus-and-hiking trips to the eagle-viewing area along the Chilkat River and Chilkoot Lake for $69 adults, $54 children; a four-hour tour with lunch is $69 adults, $64 children, and a four-hour rain forest hike with lunch is $69 adults, $64 children. During August–September they also offer evening bear-viewing trips, and winter ski trips are available. Their outdoor shop, Backcountry Outfitter, rents skis, snowboards, and snowshoes.
Keet Gooshi Tours (907/766-2168 or 877/776-2168, www.keetgooshi.com [3], $75) is a Native Alaskan–owned company with 2.5-hour van tours that take in the Bald Eagle Preserve and the village of Klukwan, including an introduction to traditional culture.
