For the best local meal, head to Mad Fish Restaurant (907/234-7676, www.seldovia.com/madfishrestaurant [2], daily noon–4 p.m. and 6–9 p.m. late May–early Sept., dinner $28–34), with a menu of local seafood (including halibut seviche), steaks, and Caesar salads for dinner, plus lunchtime burgers, fish-and-chips, and sandwiches.
Fenske’s High Tide Originals (907/234-7850, late May–early Sept.) sells new and used books—along with coffee—from a tiny building on pilings just up from the bridge. The covered deck is a good spot to watch the tide come in.
