Anchorage International Airport (www.anchorageairport.com [1]) is the hub for air travel into Alaska, although there are nonstop flights into Fairbanks [2], Juneau [3], and Ketchikan [4] from the Lower 48 states, plus a few international flights directly into Fairbanks.
The state’s flagship carrier, Alaska Airlines (800/426-0333, www.alaskaair.com [5]), has jet service to all the larger cities and towns in Alaska, as well as throughout the United States and all the way to Mexico.
Alaska Airlines serves most larger towns around the state, including such far-flung places as Barrow, Nome, Bethel, Kodiak, and Dillingham. Frontier Alaska (907/266-8394 or 800/866-8394, www.frontierak.com [6]) is the largest in-state airline. As Frontier, the company has hubs in both Anchorage [7] and Fairbanks [2], with service between the two cities several times a day, plus flights to Aniak, Barrow, Dillingham, and many bush villages, and from Allakaket to Wainwright.
Their subsidiary Era Aviation (booked via the Frontier Alaska phone numbers and website) has daily service from Anchorage [7] to Bethel, Cordova [8], Homer [9], Kenai [10], Kodiak, and Valdez [11]. A second subsidiary, Hageland Aviation, serves a variety of bush communities from Nome and Kotzebue.
PenAir (907/243-2323 or 800/448-4226, www.penair.com [12]) flies from Anchorage to Aniak, Cold Bay, Dillingham, Dutch Harbor, Iliamna, King Salmon, McGrath, Pribilof Islands, Sand Point, and Unalakleet.

Grant Aviation (907/243-3592 or 888/359-4726, www.flygrant.com [16]) connects Anchorage with Homer [9] and Kenai [10].
