Agate City (721 7th Ave., 218/834-2304, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sun.) sells rocks (polished and unpolished) and fossils from around the world, including, of course, plenty of Lake Superior agates.
As many as ten sellers stock the 5,000-square-foot Harbor Antiques (601 1st Ave., 218/834-0836, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. daily) with collectibles, furniture, and primitive arts.
Honey-smoked salmon is the specialty at Lou’s Fish House (1319 Hwy. 61, 218/834-5254, www.lousfish.com [1], 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Sat.–Sun.), but they also sell lots of other fish, beef and turkey jerky, and Wisconsin cheese.
About 11 miles north of town, Northwoods Pioneer Gallery and Gifts (2821 Hwy. 61, 218/834-4175, www.pioneercrafts.com [2], 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily summer, Fri.–Sun. only Oct.–Dec., Sat.–Sun. only rest of year) is a long-lived co-op stocking the handiwork of 55 local craftspeople, including jewelry, candles, ceramics, textiles, woodworking, and more.
