Events

Penticton [1] seems to have festivals, parades, events, or competitions going on throughout the year. The biggest event is the annual Penticton Peach Festival (250/487-9709, www.peachfest.com [2]), held on the first weekend of August; it’s a tradition going back more than 50 years. Events include peach tasting, the crowning of Miss Penticton, Kiddies Day (the Sunday), a sandcastle competition, fireworks, and nightly entertainment in Gyro Park.

Other annual happenings include the Spring Wine Festival (250/861-6654, www.thewinefestivals.com [3]), hosted by many local wineries in late April; the Ironman Canada (250/490-8787, www.ironman.ca [4]) triathlon the last Sunday in August; and the Pentastic Jazz Festival (www.pentasticjazz.com [5]) the second weekend of September.
