Calgary [1] may lack the cultural trappings that Alberta [2]’s capital, Edmonton [3], boasts, but it gives that city a run for its money in the restaurant department. Southwest of downtown, along 17th Avenue and 4th Street, a once-quieter part of the city has been transformed into a focal point for Calgary’s restaurant scene, with cuisine to suit all tastes. Familiar North American fast-food restaurants line Macleod Trail south of the city center.
