Named for the many waterfalls in the accessible south-central portion of the Northwest Territories [1], the Waterfalls Route is reached by road from northern Alberta [2] and provides the gateway to Yellowknife [3]. The largest population center is Hay River [4], on the southern shore of Great Slave Lake.
With spectacular scenery around every bend, a UNESCO World Heritage Site [5], and an abundance of wildlife, the area is an outdoorsperson’s fantasy come true. Hiking, camping, fishing, golfing, canoeing, kayaking, and river rafting—it’s all here.
