Discovery Place is a museum for people who hate museums. The exhibits are hands-on and designed to entertain. You can walk through the rainforest, reach out and touch a simulated tornado in Our Living Planet, and get a scoop of liquid nitrogen ice cream in Einstein’s Corner.
A combination of permanent and rotating exhibits all focus on science, from life science to space exploration. Big-screen blockbusters and educational films are shown on the largest IMAX screen in the Carolinas.
Discovery Place KIDS is a special section of the museum reserved for the smallest scientists. Activities are interactive and aimed at children 1–7 years old. A series of workshops, special events, and learning vacations are also offered through the museum.
