The Charlotte Symphony has been performing its Summer Pops in the Park concerts since 1994. Every Sunday evening in June, thousands of people descend on the park with coolers, blankets, and picnic baskets to listen to the symphony play in the outdoor amphitheater.
The final summer concert is an Independence Day celebration complete with fireworks and the orchestra playing patriotic songs like “America the Beautiful” and “1812 Overture.”
The concert used to be free, but tight budgets forced the symphony to start asking for donations. It’s definitely worth the price of admission to see a live concert under the stars.
