Heading north one block from Bryant Park [1], you’ll find the largely subterranean International Center of Photography (1133 6th Ave., at 43rd St., 212/857-0000, www.icp.org [2], 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.–Thurs., 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Fri., 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sat.–Sun., adults $12, students and seniors $8, children under 12 free).
The Center includes spacious exhibit areas, a school, library, and bookshop. Founded in 1974 by Cornell Capa, Robert Capa’s brother (Robert Capa was a photojournalist killed in Vietnam), the center presents many of the city’s most important contemporary photography exhibits.
