Directly across the Hudson from Albany [1] in Rensselaer is the 1704 Crailo mansion (9 Riverside Ave., 518/463-8738, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Wed.–Sun. Apr.–Oct., adults $3, seniors $2, children 5–12 $1). Home to the Van Rensselaer family until the mid-1800s, the house is now a museum focusing on the history of Dutch culture in the Hudson River Valley.
Exhibits range from archaeological artifacts to a restored cellar kitchen. Surrounding the house is a riverside park where summertime concerts are held.
