At the northern end of Otsego Lake shimmers this peaceful oasis of green (East Lake Rd., 607/547-8662, 8 a.m.–dusk, parking $6–8), perched on rolling hills. Features include a swimming beach, plenty of hiking and biking trails, a playground, and a 39-site campground. The park is accessible from County Road 31; for campground reservations, call 800/456-CAMP.
In the heart of the park stands a grand, neoclassical mansion known as Hyde Hall (607/547-5098, www.hydehall.org [1], 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Thurs.–Tues. June–Oct., adults $7, seniors $6, children 5–12 $4). Once home to the Clarke family, the building had fallen into serious disrepair but is now being restored.
