Dominating downtown is the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel (310 4th St., 716/299-1100, www.senecaniagaracasino.com [1], 24 hours a day). Opened in the summer of 2002, the casino holds about 2,600 slot machines and 90 games tables, along with a 425-seat theater where pop stars and comedians perform, a nightclub, and several restaurants.
In back of one of the town’s souvenir shops, find the so-called Daredevil Museum (303 Rainbow Blvd., 716/282-4046, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. daily, free admission), actually a small, informal exhibit area. Here you’ll learn about 63-year-old Annie Taylor, a schoolteacher who rode over Horseshoe Falls in a wooden barrel in 1901 and lived to tell the tale, and about the aerialists who challenged the Niagara Gorge on tightropes.
Niagara’s Wax Museum of History (303 Prospect St., 716/285-1271, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. daily, adults $6, children $4) tells similar stories through life-size wax figures.
