Continue north of the power project [1] about four miles to Lewiston, a historic 19th-century village. Proudly ensconced in one of the many National Historic Landmarks here is a McDonald’s restaurant (460 Center St.). For more information on the history of the village, stop into Historic Lewiston (476 Center St., 716/754-9500).
One of the region’s oldest and best bakeries is
DiCamillo’s (535 Center St., 716/754-2218), established in 1920. The Apple Granny (433 Center St., 716/754-2028) is a good spot for lunch, dinner, or a snack. For a more upscale meal, try the Clarkson House (810 Center St., 716/754-4544, $16), housed in an 1818 landmark. On the menu is lobster, steak, and open-hearth cooking.
