Shopping in Koloa on the south side of Kaua‘i is contained to several areas where shops are clustered together. The area is filled with many boutiques, galleries, souvenir shops, and clothing stores. Most daily shopping needs for residents are found in nearby Lihu‘e.

Clothing

For a unique array of clothing check out Jungle Girl (5424 Koloa Rd., 808/742-9649, 9am-9pm daily). They also have a collection of accessories and housewares. There are some locally made items as well as creations from around the world. If you’re looking for aloha wear drop into Pohaku Ts (3430 Po‘ipu Rd., 808/742-7500, 10am-6pm daily). They offer cotton aloha shirts that are designed, cut, and sewn on Kaua‘i for men, women, and children.

Suits galore decorate the inside of South Shore Bikinis (3450 Po‘ipu Rd., 808/742-5200, 9am-7pm daily), where they specialize in the tiny-backed Brazilian bikini. They also offer a variety of other suits along with beachwear for all ages, hats, sandals, and other accessories. A huge spectrum of Kaua‘i and Hawaii souvenir shirts can be found in Crazy Shirts (5356 Koloa Road., 808/742-7161, 10am-9pm). A chain found throughout the islands, they sell shirts and a few other items for men, women, and children with a heavy Kaua‘i and Hawaii theme.

Gifts, Crafts, and Souvenirs

Island-style souvenirs and gifts can be found at Hula Moon Gifts (5426 Koloa Rd., 808/742-9298, 9am-9pm Mon.-Sat. and 10am-9pm Sun.). They sell unique locally made crafts, gifts, and jewelry. At the Emperor’s Emporium (5330 Koloa Rd. #3, 808/742-8377, 9am-9pm daily) you will find a resort-style store offering jewelry, gifts, and clothing.

The scent radiating out of the shop will draw you into Island Soap and Candle Works (Koloa Rd., 808/742-1945, 9am-9pm daily). The locally run store has shops island-wide where they manufacture natural Hawaiian botanical products, beeswax candles, and other gifts. While shopping you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look into how it’s all made.
